Italian red cross – Health Care at the World Master Championships
The LOC (Local Organizing Committee) has drawn up its plan for handling the health care service during the 2007 World Track and Field Master Championships, which will be guaranteed by Health Care and Logistic Service of the Italian Red Cross, a Military Body – the sixth mobilization centre of Bologna, a qualified group made up of 22 persons which boasts a long experience in the field of high-participation events. |

Riccione 2007 wears ASICS
The 2007 World Master Championships have found their technical sponsor from today. The Local Organizing Committee has reached the deal with ASICS, which will wear all officials of the event (members of the staff of the Organizing Committee and referees) and will handle the merchandising activities.
ASICS, the historic japanese sport brand, whose italian seat is in Cuneo, already wears the italian athletics team.

Derek Turnbull dies
Riccione 2007, the next World Master Athletics Championships Stadia, missed one of the most important, likely leading. Derek Turnbull of Southland, the fastest old man in the world, has died. Turnbull aged 79 died in his sleep on Thursday, November, 2. The sheep farmer from Tussock Creek started masters running at the age of 40. Since 1975 the greatest veteran runner of all time claimed 25 world age group records.
His best year of running was 1992 when he set six 65-69 age group world records and two world best times as well as running a time of 2h 41m at the age of 65 in the London Marathon.
At world veteran track and field championships Turnbull won 28 gold medals. At the 1997 championships in Durban South Africa, at the age of 71, he won six individual gold medals.
He was born in Waikaka in 1926.
